Reformatting Retirement is an inspiring video for anyone wondering what you might do when you retire or what you are going to do now that you have retired.
“It’s fascinating to see the change in each person’s perspective once they realized what their retirement would actually be like.”
“Nolan aptly documents the satisfaction found by retirees who become involved with service organizations or help their community in other ways. The enthusiasm of these volunteers is infectious and will likely inspire other retirees to become involved in community projects.”

The Spirit of Lake Chapala
Expatriates living at Lake Chapala have one thing in common. They gave up our familiar lifestyles and the security of our homelands to retire in a foreign country. Coming from all over the world, they bring enthusiasm, creativity, knowledge and skills. This 70-minute video documents what life is like for these adventurers who left their homelands to enjoy the culture and activities of the Chapala Ribera.
New
In the Shadow of Mount Garcia
The South side of the lake is very different from the much busier North shore. It’s still very country, and very tranquil, and only a few foreigners live here. The few communities Like San Pedro Tesistan, San Luis Soyatlan and Tuxcueca are fishing and farming communities and still do not have the infrastructure or conveniences of services as the cities on the other side of the lake. But it’s peaceful and picturesque, and authentic.
This video was a labor of love. It was produced in about one year, around Lake Chapala in the central highlands of Mexico. Over seventy people were interviewed. Eighteen were selected to be in the video. Many hours of videotaping were done and only 53 minutes made it into the final cut. Some of the remaining footage is being used in subsequent productions that will be coming out soon.

Margarita Fettweis who did production co-ordination, scheduling and on camera interviewing was born in Mexico City, was an equestrian in the Mexican jumping team and graduated from the American School Foundation. She then studied at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL, worked as a translator in Germany and as an office manager in Los Angeles, Ca, before moving to Hawaii. While living there, she and her husband started and ran the “Poco Loco Cafe”, a Mexican regional cuisine restaurant, on the big Island of Hawaii. They also produced and sold Poco Loco Salsa, ran a B&B, and designed and converted a Matson container into a home.
Eventually she moved to the San Francisco bay area and worked as a caregiver/caretaker before returning home to Mexico.

Jerry Forman who composed and performed the music track for this video started playing music a a very young age. He then played in local bands around his home town of Philadelphia. During that time, he taught special education, for thirty years in a very disadvantaged neighborhood.
After he retired, he moved to Mexico and is now living on the Lakeshore. He has his own band “El Mundo Naturale” and is living his dream, writing songs and playing music for this community.
