The Backlash Begins

The Women’s March on Washington on January 21, 2017 the day AFTER the inauguration, galvanized us here in Ajijic, Mexico to have our own protest march on the same day at the Ajijic Plaza.

We sent notice and advised the new Administration and Congress that “we are watching you”,

The attendance was very high! Women, men and children … including Mexicans and Canadians and other nationalities because what this administration does impacts all of us globally, particularly those of us who have to live under those policies and especially for our closest neighbors, Mexico and Canada.

We are all angered and concerned about the policies of the incoming administration. We are witnessing appointments of not only unqualified people to cabinet and other high-ranking positions but people who have ties to white supremacy , and who support polices that are racist, sexist, homophobic , and xenophobic. These are high ranking officials who would deny climate change, who will cut off our important trade deals and health care to those who need it and deport millions of immigrants based on their nationalities and religions……to say nothing of Trump’s business conflicts of interest that are in direct violation of provisions of the Constitution , among other things. We are afraid for the United States, for all that it stands for, for the future of democracy itself and for the freedoms and justice that we have fought for and now fear will be taken away.

ABOUT ME – ROY NOLAN

I was born in Canada and worked at the National Film Board of Canada in Montreal during most of my twenties.

From there I moved on to San Francisco, California, in the early sixties, taught filmmaking at UC Berkeley and the San Francisco Academy of Art.

I spent the next thirty-five years as an independent making films and videos for education, entertainment and industry. During that time I also did work for PBS, ABC, CBS, Disney, Canadian, British, German and Dutch TV.

Since then, I’ve moved to Lake Chapala in Mexico and have started a new life. I look forward to many more years of making films south of the border.
